Handmade Eco Dye & Eco Print Silk Scarves

Eco Dye is an ancient technique! Until the late 19th century, all dyes came from nature. Recently this old technique has caught renewed interest, as people prefer to have a natural, organic piece of cloth around the neck!

I extract the pigments of flowers and leaves and transfer those to a natural white silk scarf. The cloth and leaves are lightly bundled and bound together, then boiled or steamed. This process creates a permanent transfer of pigment from the leaves to the silk and makes remarkable imprints of their shapes. No artificial dyes, inks, or paints are used in eco dye and print—only organic and non-toxic materials. I utilize mostly plants of New England and Eucalyptus leaves from California.

All colors and patterns are unique to the plants used.

This process releases extraordinary im-prints from local plants we see every day and often take for granted.

The scarves remain wonderfully soft, light, airy, and delicate after eco-dyeing. They are durable, stylish, and multicolor.

Each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind, handmade scarf. It is a beautiful gift or an accessory for yourself.
